Our most important income generation project – the gift shop at the Center – has long been in need of a serious makeover and update. This has taken place in the last few weeks. The shop has been expanded and made more attractive. Srey Lim, one of the kids at the Center, has made a new set of products for the shop including new wallets and bags. We now also sell new t- shirts and are in the middle of making a whole new design for our shirts.
In addition to the makeover of the gift shop in the Center, which has since its makeover been running a lot better, we now also have a small gift shop in Phnom Penh. A former volunteer at SCAO has given us the opportunity to set up a small gift shop within his own coffeeshop in Phnom Penh. At the moment we are still working on making this shop attractive in order to attract more potential buyers.
The gift shop in Phnom Penh is not only supposed to make an income for SCAO but especially be a small advertisement for SCAO. Especially in November and December we are always in need of volunteers and hopefully the gift shop in Phnom Penh will attract more volunteers to come to SCAO.
Volunteers and visitors are now able to choose from a variety of postcards, t shirts, bags, decorations and wallets to buy at our giftshops in Phnom Penh and at the Center. These small things you can take home with you will remind you of SCAO and you are doing something good by buying them.
